As an Australian 🇦🇺 I can tell you that in the state of Tasmania they call them man ferns and can be 15 feet tall. I know because I’ve seen them. In Victoria we call them tree ferns. They feed from the top - trapped composting leaves etc and probably dead insects and bird poop. Place a banana skin to rot into it as food.
